Dictionary as PDF?
Is the LC dictionary available as a PDF file?
Re: Dictionary as PDF?
I would be glad if someone can post a link for up.to.date dictionary as pdf...
the funniest thing about this particular signature is that by the time you realize it doesn't say anything it's too late to stop reading it
Re: Dictionary as PDF?
I would be open to it being a for sale item in the store as PDF or ebook book format.
The current offer seems to be restricted to one screen on a Mac. I always have issues moving it to my others screens. Also notes are restrictive

Re: Dictionary as PDF?
I have seena pdf vversion of the LC dictionary somewhere but it is horrendously out of date. ( the one i saw made no mention of ios or android).
..but if you don't mind that the pdf dictionary is for revolution 2.1 it canbe obtained from this link.....
http://www.sonsothunder.com/devres/live ... nloads.htm
however i must reiterate that this is a very out of date reference.

Thanks for the link.
The paper form offered in the store is just so 1970s
If we can not get a up to date version offered from the vendor, what about a stand-alone app (LC) which offers the following features;
- stand-alone, runs outside of the IDE
- ability to annotate / highlight on a public, semi-public or private basis
- ability to run in a off-line mode
- ability to have multiple windows open
- open framework, so other 3rd party products (eg MobGUI, SQLYoga,) and 3rd party vendors (training, consultants, etc) can add / release their documentation
I fear RR is going in the other direction, as the latest releases have reduced PDF release notes per OS and moved away from a PDF user guide (now only online HTML)

Re: Dictionary as PDF?
lets keep our fingers crossd that, along with the"next generation" livecode. we get an up to date dictionary and yes a pdf would be the perfect solution for so meny reason.( plus the ability to make inline annotations).
Oh and the price of the print version!!gosh, will have to think very carefully about that!!

Re: Dictionary as PDF?
I would just be happy with a version of the dictionary that doesn't have instant search / crash the IDE. If that means a PDF, so be it.
Re: Dictionary as PDF?
I wonder if Björnkes stack can be made into a standalone?
http://bjoernke.com/?target=bvgdocu
It creates it's own sqlite database so it should function just fine without the IDE.
I suppose if not, then a very kind note to him asking what to change probably would do the trick.

Re: Dictionary as PDF?
For myself, any on-screen representation is useful, and it doesn't matter to me whether the format is specifically PDF. In fact, the hyperlinking for things like See Also is so useful that I prefer the Dictionary viewer included in the IDE.SteveTX wrote:I would just be happy with a version of the dictionary that doesn't have instant search / crash the IDE. If the problem is crashing then that should be addressed. Have you submitted a bug report for that?

There should, at least, be a printed version because one of the Kickstarter deliverables was a
I would assume that a PDF should be available tooNew & Revised PRINTED LIVECODE SYNTAX DICTIONARIES with hundreds of updated language terms after final Kickstarter project delivery

Re: Dictionary as PDF?
Agreed, but it would still be useful to see any bugs in the IDE viewer reported.

Re: Dictionary as PDF?
The bottomline is that the dictionary runs about 2 to 5 seconds behind the user activity even on very ample resources, resulting in misclicks and an extremely frustrating experience, and it seems to be because it is overly sophisticated trying to be predictive/reactive in its controls.
