Is it achievable?

Post by ECNU4271 » Tue Sep 24, 2013 11:36 pm

Hi,all!

I wonder if this is achievable in LiveCode: Take a picture by using your iPhone, then the app can analyze the picture and recognize the numbers in specific area. Get the numbers and then do some commands. Return some results.

Is it possible in LiveCode? (The character recognition from photo)

Thanks!

Michael

I doubt it. But with an external you might be able to.

Image recognition is a very deep topic. I saw Wil Shipley's session at the MacTech conference a couple years ago, which was largely focused on the challenges his team overcame with barcode scanning for his Delicious Library product. There are so many factors that come into play - from rotation to image quality - that it's quite a daunting feat. If you can find a library for that, your best bet may be to integrate it with LiveCode through LC's externals API.
