Eyes cowering down, Please Sir, how do I change a file name?

Right, from the beginning. I wanted to change the file name of an app from ResFinderTab, to ResFinder - simple eh, not when LC is in charge apparently 
it hates you!
I began by changing the name in the finder (apple mac) directly, simple it has worked for 12 years so why not work now...well then I saved as a stanalone app, and it had the original file name. Step 1!
So I thought to myself, ok, I will change the stack name through the property inspector to ResFinder from ResFinderTab, I will rename the file from within the LV IDE and start again. Nope That did not work Step 2 and I am a little concerned.
So methinks, being the clever genius that I am thinking I can break LC and force it to submit to a higher authority - I made a back up of ResFinderTab from within LC IDE, renamed the backup as ResFinder, deleted the original offending file, made sure that the word TAB was no where to be found and proceded to standalone and guess what? Yep you've got it, LC says No, I am not in the mood today. Step 4 and I am now arming the nukes with every bit of wisdom I have left, here comes the ultimate in supreme authority. The nuke attack.
So
I went to the terminal, I purged the memory (not wired mem), I rebooted - I renamed before all this once again, I re-saved under different folder.I nuked everything to oblivion and checked under the beds for ResFinderTab hiding in the shadows, IT WAS GONE. Hee hee, gotchja, went to standalone, saved once again as standalone and Lo and Behold the Bl@#$%^ thing was there right in my face laughing - now I am not prone to violence but I am agitated somewhat above normal levels for this time of the day. If that darn ResFinderTab has not gone by this evening there will be no santa claus in Edinburgh this year.
