Windows 8.1 - Installation of LC not successful

Dear all,

After many years of following LiveCode out of the distance, I am now getting active again looking into LC for an education project for children. The idea is to use LC for late Primary children (late Key Stage 2). I just ran a class (UK system P3 & P4) using Scratch 2.0 and I was amazed what these children can already accomplish. If someone here can share some experiences, I am happy to know and also get into more detail.

But now to my subject.

After installing LC rather fast on Mac and Ubuntu 14.04, I am struggling with Windows 8.1. I tried LC 6.0, 6.6.1 and the 6.6.2-RC6, but all of them did not install. Actually the installation is already terminated at an early stage as no requester or other installation window appears. I have tried the standard things as installing with administrator rights, selecting Windows 7 mode, but to no avail.

Is there anybody out there that can give me a hint on how to get LC up and running on my machine?

Thank you in advance.

Hi Mike,
Livecode 6.6.2 (rc6) installs and runs ok on my PC running Windows 8.1 Pro.
No special considerations, just installs without issues.
I'm using the commercial version of Livecode.

Thank you Paul for your encouraging feedback, I am also running Windows 8.1 Prof., but the install is not happening.

I have tried some more tweaks, but to no avail. Annoying enough I can also not give any addional information about where the installation is getting stuck, as even the first requester for the installation is not coming up. After clicking on the Livecode installer file, Windows is busy with the file for around one to two secondes, after that it stops.

I also tried to install the programme using the command line, but apparently the command line is using the same installer, therefore nothing is happening again. I also set Windows 7 as compatibility mode in the properties, but this did not help either.

Is there maybe anything to pay attention for with the security settings?

If anybody here can share any experiences he had when installing Livecode, this would be highly appreciated.
