How to upgrade 7.05 to 7.06?

I had 7.05 on my Windows PC.
I downloaded 7.06 and installed that. Now I have both 7.05 and 7.06 on my PC.

I was expecting 7.06 to upgrade my current installation.

Does each update install as a new version? Or did I miss a step?

Do I uninstall 7.05 now?

TIA.

Hi golive,
Each version of liveCode is a full install, you get to keep older versions.
If you are asking "How when I double click a .livecode file and get the most recent version I have installed?" then it's a bit more tricky.
I rename each livecode.exe to include the version number e.g. livecode_7_0_6.exe then use right click "Open With > choose default program" with "always" selected to find that version.
Yeah, it's a bit of a pain but I prefer to have the old versions rather than an update.

Hi Simon
Thanks for your reply.

Why do you need the old version - what do you do with it?

Can I uninstall it?

Once I release a product that has been run on a bunch of machines I tend to only use the version it was built in for updating.
It's a security thing, it works don't change it. But it's probably just a hang up of mine I'm sure most (if not all) livecode versions are completely backward compatible.

Yes, you can delete the old version but you'll still have to "open with" to get the new version to work.
