Dictionary window totaly empy ?
Hello from France.
I'm try using again LiveCode after a few years with FileMaker ( French OSX 10.9.5 )
LC 8.0.0 dp12 is a huge product, quite impossible to learn, even for an old HyperCard developper like me.
I suppose that using menu item "card script" and seeng nothing on screen is normal too ? (oh yes i found, the window "about LiveCode" wasn't closed !)
The Dictionary window is totally empty, with only two little tabs (API / Guide ) ? ( but i found nothing for this bug)
Seems that nothing works here, so my "try to comeback to LC" will stop here for a long long time...
Cordialy, Joan.

The "DP" in version label stands for "Developer Preview". Such preview builds include known issues, of which the Dictionary is one.
To learn LiveCode it's usually best to use the most recent "Stable" build, which is currently 7.1.1:

Hi.
And if you are an old HC'er, like me, you will be up and running in a few hours, and the main differences structurally between the two will be ironed out in a few days. Do not give up.

Thanks for your responses.
I'll trying using the stable 7.1.1, but there's absolutely no ressources to learn LC in French language and so many things and terms to learn, this is vertiginous...

Dramamine will sooth that.
And I am not sure you should be worried about your English.

The great thing about English is that it's often spoken by Americans, so everyone else sounds like an expert in it.

"a huge product, quite impossible to learn"
Well, certainly the first, but not the second.
Having said that, after 15 years with LiveCode I think I can do about 50% of what it
can potentially do: but I have a day time job and LiveCode is mainly a hobby.
From HyperCard to LiveCode 8 is, indeed, a large jump, so that's why
the advice to start with 7.1.1 is really good.
Arguably LiveCode 8 is where LiveCode stops being a fancy front-end glued on Metacard
which is a clone of HyperCard with twiddly bits added, and becomes very much its
own beast.
And because LiveCode 8 is largely its own beast a smooth transition from something so ancient as Hypercard
is probably expecting a bit too much.
I am also reliably informed that the 'empty dictionary' problem will be sorted out any minute now.
AND, the dictionary in LiveCode 7.1.1 is bulging with so much stuff you will be fully satiated without
having to bother with LiveCode 8.
