Problem with movie player

In Win XP, when I add a Quick Time Player to the stack, the caption on the stack becomes nonsense - the "Title" and "Name" properties in the inspector remain unchanged, but the actual caption in the windows' top bar changes to question marks, squares, or just blanks, as though perhaps the font has changed or something. Removing the player allows me to retype the name if I delete at least one letter.
