Hello! As you can imagine, I am VERY new to coding.

Trying to run through the built in App Lessons with Indy 9 6 (and previously, Community 9 5 1) but after the first few orange windows and clicking "Got It" the tool tips disappear and I can't continue the lessons.

If I click the FF button on the top right, the lesson will progress as expected, but I am not really getting any info that way because the explanatory text never shows up.

I can sometimes get it to appear by dragging and clicking at random but it's inconsistent.

Also, sometimes the orange tip boxes will run away from my mouse cursor so that I can't click on them and I have to manually stop the lesson.

Running on Windows 10 64

Any ideas would be much appreciated. Out of work and thinking of a career change...

Could you please tell what lesson exactly you mean with "the built in App Lessons"?
And where in the lesson this exactly happens?

All lessons have the same behavior for me.

Steps to reproduce:

Start LiveCode
"Start Center"
Click on "Interactive Welcome"
Click on "1 User Interface"
Click on "Hello World"

Orange box "Welcome to LiveCode,..." attempt to click "Got It" box.

Currently, when my mouse cursor approaches the box, it moves on the screen away from the cursor. Typically, the other color tool tips and pointers just don't show up and the program sits there with whatever functions the lesson disables until I stop the lesson.

I can try to screen cap the behavior but it won't show much.

Hm, I could go through the first course "User Interface" without any problem!?
But I'm on a Mac, maybe that is the difference?

Any other Windows user who can check this?

I called myself a bot before bots were such a problem. Back then, it was just my want to reference Kraftwerk.... we are ze robots...

You need to have at least seven posting before you can post links, images etc.

Just heard that Florian Schneider-Esleben, one of the founders of Kraftwerk, the guy with the flute, has passed away.

It's true, a sad day. This was gonna be the year where I was gonna finally see them too. Ah well.

I screen captured the orange squares running away from my mouse and would love to post it here.

I hope this is just an issue in lessons, but it concerns me.

Good news is, 3 more posts and you can attach em.

Oh, so I can just post right here and it will eventually work, that's great!

In the meantime, are all of the lessons from the program also online somewhere?

Myself I have no certain knowledge of it, since I never looked at what your looking at. I'm an odd duck, when I started using Lc, it was at version 7.x. I promptly went from that backwards to Mc, and haven't ever really looked back

I'm afraid this is only available inside of LC, no online version of this available.

LiveCode is basically my first foray into any kind of programming.

Heh, well, Klaus there knows far more than I about this language, but we all start somewhere I started back in the 80's, but am just a 3rd rate hack.
