				Hi
I send my friend a standalone that will not open on his latest imac or powerbook. In security settings he selected "Open from App store and unidentified applications." But the "Open Anyway" button does not appear. How can he open my app?

Actually it says "Open from App store and identified developers." But no "Open Anyways" options. Does that mean all Livecode apps now have to go through the App store?

Usually a right-click on the app shows a context menu, whre you can choose "Open" and you have to confirm
one or two dialogs "Do you really want..." (or something like that) and the app will open.
Please let him try this.

				Hi Klaus,
Thank you again for your quick responses and kindness.
It appears that any app sent through email will not open. I tested this my sending my working app to myself vie AOL and Gmail. The app refuse to open after downloading the attachment.
Does anyone know how to share apps without going through the app store?

				Same procedure Maxs -

one or two dialogs "Do you really want..." (or something like that) and the app will open.

If you right click in the Finder on the app you received by email and choose the "Open" option there, you get the chance to run whatever you like ... with the usual parental Apple warnings of course ... but at least they let you shoot yourself in the foot if you REALLY REALLY want to.

I never send apps via e-mail.
I either:
1. Upload my app, zipped, to my DropBox account and send people the link.
or
2. Do much the same sort of thing via GoogleDrive.
Oh, and,
Klaus, by-the-way, I've never had any difficulty
shooting myself in the foot,
or running anything on a Macintosh computer.

				I know, Richmond, I know!

And you are right, one should at least ZIP Mac apps before sending via email,
since they are just FOLDERS in disguise and might lose the "execution bit"
(hope I remember that one correctly), which makes them unusable.

				executable bit
I have had a similar situation with my online classes with kids sending me .docx documents via Viber and Whatsapp.
Because .docx documents, like Macintosh apps, are folders containing .xml documents and so forth, they "come across"
via Viber and Whatsapp in such a way that my Mac Mini sees them as zip folders.
