hello there!
a bit at a loss to even get the thingy running!
stuck in the very beginning
the app refuses any ID/password i enter
"please enter a password"
the app shuts down when i want to skip the step.
any idea?

This should not be an issue. Are you trying to download the Community edition?

For the Community Edition (the one with the Green logo) just click on

"Skip this step"

This is very odd as on Xubuntu 20.04.3 I have had no
problem with installs at all.

Hi.

Do you have access to any other computer, even one you might borrow for a few minutes, and try to access the download from there? I assume this will work, and we can isolate the issue to the particular OS you are using.

but i have all the troubles in the world removing it now.
i think you can close this thread.
i definitively want to get rid of this app.
opening a "remove livecode from ubuntu" thread, if you can help, i'd be grateful

Something a bit odd going on . . .

First the OP is unable to install LiveCode and then he is trying to delete it.

Logically this means he somehow managed to install LC but has not bothered to tell how.

And why, forbye, having made such a skammosh about installing the thing, having achieved it, does he
want to delete it straight away?

i assure you i'm legitimate
the thing is i just have troubles using the app. in fact simply starting it.
i think it's been installed alright: i see a repository with lots of files in /.rev
but oddly, it just refused to start. to be precise it didn't go beyond the first window i put earlier.
unable to do much with this, i tried to uninstal it.
i had just had the worst day of the last month.
i had to remove another repository called livecode in /opt, manually
here it is, plain and simple
if you think i did something wrong please elaborate. i'd be glad to try and install it provided it worked

OK, good.

You are the only person who has ever reported anything like this. Did you try on another machine? I want to know if it is something particular about your computer or OS, as opposed to the method you are using to try to download the program.

No, Kevin states that all still will be fine, but no new versions will be forthcoming.
