Not sure when this started, and there seems to be no relevant setting in the SE preferences, but I am constantly being aided by a large "tooltip" that is trying to help me. I don't want to be helped.

Perhaps I am typing a line in a switch construction. Let us say I have "cas", I am ambushed by this monster:


How do I politely tell LC to kindly F***-off?

Isn't that the autocomplete feature in the SE? (ie just switch if off in the Edit > Options menu?)
Or am i misunderstanding?

I recently upgraded to 9.6.6 and it must have turned itself on.

Why that option is not in the SE preferences is not clear to me. There are a few that appear in both places. I rarely remember to check the edit menu.
