Hi,
when trying to save the stack I get an error message
'can't open stack backup file'
How would I fix this ?

CAsba.
Is this part of your other thread about having to "save as..."?

No, I can live with this situation, but I'd like to be able to use the system as it was designed, so if anyone knows the cause or cure of this, that would be good. My latest way around this is to work in the E:\ drive, it will save in the E:\ drive,( but not in the C: drive) and then I can copy the E: version onto the C: version as a backup.
But why would it not save on C: ?

All.
If this is a Windows thing then it is way below my pay grade.

*sigh*
It's probably a permissions issue. All O/S have areas with restrictions on what can be written where.
What location are you trying to save into? Can you create a basic text file in that location?

It's Ok now, following re-install and re-start windows. Thanks, all.
