Script Editor loses focus while typing

Hello everyone!
I am new to livecode, I installed 10-0-3 rc2 with Xubuntu 24.
When I create a new stack and try to do the hello world app,
I place a button on the card, edit the script, choose on 'mouseup' from the left pane,
then, I try to enter the codeword 'answer' between the lines 'on mouseup' and 'end mouseup'
after each letter, the edit window loses focus (the cursor disappears, the window title greys out)
I have to click into the script editor window to be able to continue typing.
Interestingly, inside of quotation marks, eg "Hello World" the focus is not lost.
Any hints how to prevent that behaviour?

Hi.
I am not a linux user, but that should not matter. I have never heard of your problem. What happens if you do NOT use the left pane as a shortcut, and manually type:
Code: Select all
on mouseUp
answer "XYZ"
end mouseUp

Hi Craig,
so I am happy to be the unicorn
The problem persists, independent of using the left pane or typing the commands manually.
I found out that the editor windows works as expected, if I untick the View - Palettes option.
This helps a bit but then the tools bar is gone until I tick the option again.
Any ideas on that?
Interestingly, the window title of the tools bar does not get "ungreyed", when the script window title gets greyed out.
So it's not just the tools bar hijacking somehow the focus.

LiveCode and Xubuntu have experienced focus issues for quite a few years now.

If anyone is psying attention there when LC have effectively dumped 'Classic'.

I tried to file the bug but I don't seem to be able to create a quality control account,
since I am not getting an account creation confirmation email.
Frankly, I don't expect my problem to get solved, the xubuntu+livecode combination seems to be used seldom,
I switched to KDE VM, where that problem does not occur.

"Focus" has moved elsewhere.
