how do i create a developer profile ?

hallo,

can anybody tell me where i can read about how to add a profile to the standalone application settings under iOS ?
i want to create an iphone app and the profile select list in the standalone application settings is empty. i join the iphone developer program and i did setup the various certificates and devices needed.

i found the information that you need xcode organizer to do that. is that right ?
in the xcode organizer you can import developer profiles, but i do not know what to import.

i was able to create the provisioning profile in xcode organizer by dragging the .mobileprovision file into the organizer. there i got the message "a valid signing identity matching this profile could not be found in your keychain".

does anybody know where i can find this keychain ?
