LiveCode Trial - can run Hello World but cannot find Android

Post by CJay » Tue Nov 15, 2011 12:26 pm

Hello

I am a complete newbie with LiveCode and have just downloaded the 30 day trial for Windows XP and cannot find the Android part.

So far I have followed the Hello World example and it runs fine but would really like to try writing a program for Android.

There are lots and lots of docs but hopefully I can get a quick answer here.
I guess I must be missing something really obvious.

Thank you
CJay

Hi CJay,

I think "the Android part" is a separate demo/download!
Check the RunRev website to be sure.

Hi Klaus

Thank you for replying.

I have now logged into the downloads section again and it seems only the LiveCode 5.0 trial is available to me.
I thought perhaps the LiveCode trial would download the Android part for me but I haven't found that bit yet - still looking :)

The Android section on RunRev website links to something called the LiveCode 5.0 Package Builder but all the options seem to cost $ with no free trials.
I'll keep looking.

Hi CJay,

Do you mean that there is no option in the standalone builder to build standalones for Android or do you mean that you haven't installed the Android SDK yet? If the former, that's really strange and maybe you should write to support. If the latter, go here and install it.

Kind regards,

Mark

Hi Mark

Thank you for this info.

I must be missing something obvious here as I can't see anything about a StandAlone builder.
I have something called LiveCode 5.0 open and wonder if Standalone builder is a separate app - I'll search for this.

No I didn't install the Android SDK - I'll do that now then look for standalone builder :)

Hi Cjay,

I recommend reading the manual FIRST! It is in the Help menu.

Kind regards,

I've found it - the bit about building standalones - I can't see how i missed it.

its on the menu File - option Standalone Option Settings

and it has the option for Android building on it :)

Thank you for all the help.
