Is Transcript Cookbook a Taboo Topic?

I've been doing research all over the internet for the old "Transcript Cookbook" that was mentioned over and over again in the huge 3,000+ page manual that was written for Revolution version 2.1.2. (aka "Revdocs").

During my search, I've found several times when users wrote to chat sites and elsewhere to ask where they could find a copy, but without any exception that I found, they never received a reply. Is there a reason that nobody's talking about the "Transcript Cookbook" with its many "Recipes for...?" It sounds like an excellent resource, but all the silence certainly has gotten me curious.

It's certain that it once did exist, since it is mentioned in many Revolution press releases, including quite a few press releases that found their way onto Mac World.

I've also found the occasional mention of Transcript Cookbook on Revolution forums, such as an interesting response concerning some important script that was missing from the instructions for yellow hiliting. Anyway, enquiring minds want to know, plus I would like to own this resource if it's still available.

Anybody know anything about its whereabouts or whether an updated version of the "Recipes for..." are getting ready for a new release?

Always curious, deeverd

Hi Deeverd,

I think that most people simply don't remember. There is definitely no taboo on the cookbook.

If you can obtain a copy of Revolution 2.0.x and open the docs by clicking on the Documentation button of the toolbar, you will see a help window. If the Roadmap button is not disabled, you should click on it. Now, you will see a link to the Transcript Cookbook, under the header Using Revolution.

Best,

Mark

Hi Mark,

Just wanted to say thank you once again. I've been doing a lot of exploring on the forums and it is absolutely amazing how often I see your name come up, helping newbies such as myself. You definitely deserve an award, and do know that your help is greatly appreciated by us beginners and probably by a lot of very experienced programmers, too.

Have a great day, deeverd

You might want to know that the "cookbook" recipes transferred to the new style documentation as the "50 working scripts" in the "sample scripts" area of the documentation.
