setting the default of Button "Option Menu"

Does anyone know how to set the default pick for a button used as an Option Menu?

Say the menu Items are :

Choice 1
Choice 2
Choice 3

How can I change the default option to say Choice 2 when I want and then Choice 3 at another time during execution?

for a default "selection" just set the label of the button to whatever you want the default to be.
