Where do the clones come from?

I have a graphic on a card and a bit
of script to clone it a number of time.

I thought I saw some strange behaviour
so set the speed low and found that the
clones weren't appearing from the
position of the original.

Is there a reason for this?

Can I make the clones appear from the
same co-ordinates as the original?
