Thoughts on the docs?

Post by GTGeek88 » Tue Sep 25, 2012 2:39 am

What are your opinions on the state of the documentation? So far it seems kind of outdated. Like they are concentrating on new features, but not keeping up with the changes in the docs (not necessarily an unusual thing for small companies). For instance, I was looking at the docs on the Standalone Applications Preferences and it has no info at all on the iOS tab, yet I think I read somewhere that iOS was the first platform for LiveCode. Other things were more minor, like outdated screen shots. I haven't looked extensively at the docs, yet, but I do get that feeling they are not up to speed with all the latest features. Hopefully the videos will fill in the gaps . . .

Hi,

yep, the docs could be a bit better, but there is a special "documentation" for iOS and ANDROID, the "Release Notes".
Find them in Livecode: Menu: Help

And there is this wonderful forum and a very active and helpful mailing list:
http://lists.runrev.com/mailman/listinfo/use-livecode

And a lot of online resources like:
http://www.runrev.com/developers/lesson ... nferences/ ## highly recommended!
http://lessons.runrev.com

But please don't let the "less than optimal" documentation hinder you from using this wonderful tool! :D

Ah, and welcome to the forum!

Best

Klaus
