User Input

I put together a little game for my daughters and myself on the web. I have some knowledge of php scripting and web based data bases. Now I have a few friends that would like to try this game as a stand alone application so I'm trying to learn. The Question is how to script the question or statements in this game so the player can input their own statements? the game..... ned.graydns.net/game

I think I can code in the players ok....... but if someone can help me with this I'd be very gratefull.
