Android pro's and con's

Although I have experience with PC and Mac platforms using Livecode, I have never explored Android at all.
From what I see, this is totally different to the PC & Mac, so I see no point in exploring Livecode if the Android tools provide a wider range of capability. Apart from the cost of the add on to Livecode, free for android tools.
There is a learning curve for both, in my case.
Has anyone compared the Livecode way of producing software for Android devices, compared with the Android Tools (SDK and Platform).
