Make a scrolling field scroll

I have a text field which takes input
from a number of buttons but when the
field is full the new input isn't visible without
manually pulling the scrollbar down (just like
the Rev editor!).

Is there a way to make the field scroll up
leaving a few lines so the user can see the
last input line without using the scrollbar?

I usually search the forum before posting
but this time I didn't

Problem is a lot of posts don't have a "subject"
so searching can be futile.

Just wish everyone would enter a relevant
subject line containing the key words of the
enquiry/answer.
