Difference between Studio and Media?
What's the difference between Revolution Media and Revolution Studio?
I have Rev Studio (still on the trial version) but really think my primary use for this software will be to make straight-forward presentation menus for DVD-ROM. Reading the Rev web site, they suggest Rev Media is good for this. But I assume Rev Studio has all Rev Media offers plus a whole lot more... which I still may use.
If I decide to stay with Rev Studio, will I be missing out on something Rev Media offers?
Does anyone know the real difference?
Cheers.

Hi Peter,
out off the top of my head, no claim for completness, I will list the things that you will miss out in Media.
Standalone applications. You will need to use the player for distribution
Databases are not supported
No modeless or palette stack
Cantmodify will not work
No means to extend the toolset by plugins (if I recall that correctly)
There might be quite a bit more.
In "return" you get the Media Templates. Basic project builders for a slideshow, a kiosk, an adventure game and one I forgot.
All the best,
Malte

Thanks guys for this information.
I think making a DVD-ROM as a standalone will be easier (more compatible) for distribution, rather than getting users to install the Player to view the disc.
I was thinking that Rev Media may have a "quicker", more straight-forward interface to build ROM menus. For example; Instead of scripting every button function, just having a simple "click and drag and select target" process. But I guess not?
What do you mean by "return" ?? Is this a menu item? Or a place in this web site?
Cheers again

Hi Peter,
Media comes with a collection of 4 Template stacks, that you can feed with your own content. These stacks are not included in studio or enterprise. However, if you get your head around to scripting these stacks may (or may not) lose their usefullness, as they are pretty basic starters. I do like the idea of having template projects though, if only there were more of it

Thanks again Malte.
I think I can live without 4 Template stacks. I seem to be getting the hang of scripting and actually enjoying it - so it's probably best for me to make my own stacks and keep the ones I like best as templates for future projects... Templates are only good if you like them.
So it looks like I'm sticking with Rev Studio - it really is a good program!
