Dear Geniuses

Is there a way to put files in a random and secret location on the file system like the way a browser does it? .... this would be a temporary folder to store files for this particular session. My question is is there functionality like this built into the OS? I am asking about all 3 Desktop OS's. Thanks for any thoughts

Hi Tom,

what about -> specialfolderpath("temporary")
Works for all 3 desktop platforms.

hmm... i guess i should have looked at the dictionary, just assumed this was equivalent to windows "temporary folder" which is not secret but can be looked at and accessed. ok will try to use this..... though it doesn't really meet the "secret" requirement.

the only reason i think such functionality exists is because i once tried to find a video file that i wanted to save from a browser and could not find it because it was help in a secret location determined by the browser.

Thanks for your reply.

What do you mean by "secret"? Do you mean hidden?
