And are you curious what the guide recommends?

Where to Begin
We recommend you start by taking a look at our
online resources. There is a wide variety of introductory
material there, including step-by-step examples and guides for performing common tasks.
And what do you see when you click on that?

I can tell you this much, the guides section online could really do with some clean up and organization. The examples section is in fair shape, though some of the examples are confusing the people who look at them, as evidenced by the comments left behind.
I have to admit, though, that the guide has certainly gotten better than it was, I just don't think it is as good as it was way back when. Of the formats I've seen, I would rank them in this order for self learning:
Rev 1 to 2 - ability to look up (almost) any term and get an answer, or at least a description, without having to go anywhere else
Mc - not really a fair throw in, completely different style of help
Lc 9'ish - guide improvements, but still not as complete as RR 1 / 2
Rev / Lc 3 - 7'ish - I know, your surprised, right?
