Can save as standalone for Windows and Linux but not Mac

Post by kaveh1000 » Sat Nov 30, 2024 10:18 am

Hi all

I am working on a Mac, with a stack using classic LiveCode, and opened on LiveCode Create 1.0.0-DP-2.

I want to save as standalone. It works for Windows and Linux, but no for Mac. I get the following message.

Help pls? Thanks.

Hi Kaveh,

CREATE is currently at DP5!
Maybe you can install that version and try again?

Best

Good point Klaus, thank you.

Been trying for a few minutes. They don't make it easy do they? I have put in the email for forgotten password and no reminder email. I will persevere!!

I just received my CREATE license yesterday, so I cannot say much about the new version yet.
First thing I did was to switch to "classic", now i need to get familiar with the new widgets and stuff... :-)

Yes, I am only using classic. Am I right that we will be moving to Create, and slowly Classic will be unsupported? I am a bit nervous about that...

Sorry, I don't know, but I hope NOT! 8)

Would be hard for me to learn very new tricks after 25 years of using classic IDEs in MC, RR, Rev and LC.
Still not sure what the "layout" metaphore might mean in terms of "classic" IDE? Cards? Stacks? Cheese? :D

I hope not too. In my case it's effectively 35 years, with HyperCard Beta in 1987 I think. It was one or two floppies with a few sheets of photocopied instructions.

They say it will be supported with updates and bug fixes for 3 years. After that it will be EOL though you can still use it. However if it becomes incompatible with a new OS we're out of luck. I too can't get my mind around new interface, I've been working with the classic one since 1987 like you.

Hi Jacque

At least I am in good company. I have not even tried the new interface. But then I haven't tried ChatGPT yet either! Fingers crossed.

@kaveh1000: I suspect the issue here is the same as others have faced - you cannot build standalones into folders which sync with iCloud. The mechanism employed for that by the OS adds 'extended attributes' (presumably to work out what has and hasn't synced) and these disrupt the code signing process. Target your standalone build folder to one which isn't under the remit of iCloud sync and it should work fine :)

Thank you so much Mark. It seems I have everything synced with icloud including the Desktop. If I try to switch off iCloud I get a warnng that the files will disappear and only remain on iCloud.

I tried switching off Wifi but that did not help. Is there a reliable way of switching off iCloud without having to resync lots of files?
