How do I add a Background Button to an established Stack?

Post by MouseUp » Sun Feb 14, 2010 3:51 pm

Silly stupid question from a long time HyperCard user...

How do I add a Background Button to an established and working Stack without messing everything up?!

When I create a new button and set it to "Group", how can I APPEND this new button to my main background group? I want the new buton to simply be a part of the already existing background group. Whenever I attempt this the bg buttons on the other cards vanish. This is not intuitive and the dictionary doesn't seem to give simple examples on how this is done.
Thanks,

Hi mouseup,

1. select your bg group in the "Application overview" or on a card directly
2. with this group selected select "Edit group" in menu "Object"
3. note the new window title! It will indicate that you are now in "edit background" mode.
4. add your button(s) etc... to the group
5. Select "Stop editing group" from menu "Object". This will exit the "edit background mode" and your are
6. finished :)

Hi, I am new myself, but I have found this site http://revolution.byu.edu/groups/Groups.php to be very useful. Scroll down to the paragraph titled Editing Groups vs Editing Objects In The Group .
