I all.

I'm about to cash in my Summer Academy credits.

And was wondering what platform eveyone was using and what priorities.

And which you are using commercially.

No prob if you feel its too much to ask.

For me its Windows development and OSX development only when neccessary.

I've been super intersted in Android and will be getting the iOS platform as well.

I just don't know which platform to get next.

For me:
Beginner - nothing commercial in LiveCode as yet - just starting

Windows /OSX

Android
iOS

Web
Win Mobile 6.5

Server
Linux

How about you?

Pretty much Mac OS X and XCode (for making externals).. I use Rev 3.5 for testing of the externals (and go right back to 2.0 for compatibility testing).. For scripting I use 4.0.. I code/script for fun and learning.. (edit) I also use the old RevCGI engine for playing around on server-side..

I have the gold bundle, so I can deploy to everything.

I'm finding Android isn't ready for what I want to do either.

Getting kind of bored with styufying Android.

This is where I usually find a target app to start putting some of the things I've learned to good practive.

And gives me more incentive to keep researching.

I'm trying to embrace the whole "code once, deploy everywhere" paradigm. I've starting with a simple portfolio management application, developing on Windows 7, looking to first deploy to Android, then iOS, and then the rest. I'm trying to avoid everything that is application specific. Whether this will ultimately be possible, remains to be seen.

If all goes well with this test project, then I'll commit to a larger multi-user application. Most of my development success has been with Visual Basic 6, though over the years, I've spent time with Alpha Five, Scriptcase, WaveMaker, Morfik, & Real Studio.

I've made more progress here with LiveCode, in a shorter span of time, than any of those other platforms. Plus-- I have yet to reach one work-around, which makes coding with LiveCode a pleasure. I'm continually amazed how each problem I face, is solved in a timely manner, thanks to the almost overwhelming amount of documentation, the RevOnline sample applications, and all the great support I've received here in the LiveCode Forum.

After my first month, I was getting confused, with all the new concepts. IE: cards, messages, chunks, handlers, etc. But the Summer Academy was just what I needed to get a solid foundation on all these basic concepts. Thanks everyone for all your help. This community here, where everyone helps each other, makes all the difference, when learning a new language.
