Hello everyone, I have a project in motion and i'd like to hear your suggestions, here it goes:
I'm building a website that will host mostly host livecode tutorials, the difference from the other similar sites will be that I will be replicating hight quality successful applications that are already on the market from zero point. I will be offering video tutorials and commented livecode stacks.
You will have the chance to learn about:
-- Databases
-- Sockets
-- xml
-- All you need to know about APIs and how to use them
-- Animation and custom effects
-- All kind of custom controls(scrollbars,progress bars, fields...)
-- I will also cover the Design process(Which is as important as the coding to the end user)
-- We will also create libraries to make things easier.
And much more.
The important thing is that you will learn by creating an actual app and not just learn the theory of codding.
The goal here is to help people learn how to code but also make my living through this but also I want to be fair because I know thing are tough and people don't have money so I will setup a donation system where everyone can give what they can, if you like it, you support it.
I am open to suggestions, and i'm sorry for my bad English.

1. How is this different from the "Create It with LiveCode" series of lessons? http://livecode.com/courses/create-it-w ... de-course/. You may do this for other applications, but it will be more of the same, won't it?

2. I really liked the App Academy, which consists of 60 very short video tutorials (by Kevin Miller) to do specific things with LiveCode. There is scope for another 600 such videos, and I hope someone will do it!

3. Animation tutorials are a very good idea and should be popular.

4. May be you should move this topic to the Beginners section so you can get a measure of the interest out there.

Hello sritcp, ufortunately i havent seen "Create It with LiveCode" series so i cant compare it by any means, from what i know the big difference is that you learn the logic of constructing a complicated application, livecode as a language is actlaly very easy to learn, every time i wanted to create something i just searched the dictionary for the right word but most of the times i had to combine alot of things and even improvise to make my way to the end result. "Create It with LiveCode" series teaches you about the basics section by section, you learn how to create simple applications but when it comes to more complicated apps you have to work your way out in ways the series haven't tought you, if someone had offered me this knowledge when i started making my first app i would of finished it in 2 months instead of 1 year. I do not by any means say that my tutorials will or can replace "Create It with LiveCode" series, in fact i think that taking the series first and then watching my tutorials is a must.That said, and the fact i haven't seen any hight end applications made with livecode yet my goal is to change that, people use livecode because it is easy to learn and you can build easy applications fast, but the thing is that you can also build complicated applications as fast, and thats my goal, teach people how to move on to the next level.
By now i have a few completed stacks:
1)An internet cafe suite that consists of a client and a server, even if i make tutorials only of this stack i will be able to teach people about:
- Sockets(client/server comunication)
- Custom effects
- Custom controls
- The use of APIs( both JSON and xml, to fech data about the games listed or applications)
- Ways to have large amount of interactive content in groups and arange it preperly(fields,images,graphics) which you cant do with a table or a datagrid.
- Custom menus
And more.
2)Also i have a robocopy library and GUI ready, which is the first robocopy GUI with an overall progress bar and all functions working.(robocopy is a copy utility available in all windows systems that is by far the fastest and more customizable copy utility out there for windows.)
3)A custom livecode GUI system that makes your work ALOT easier.
4)A movie organizer that organizes your movies in a folder(gives them proper names,years,downloads subtitles,genres and more)
And a few others that i cant recall now. I will take them all, organize them and make videos to show you what i mean.Next step is to make tutorials.
I'm also working on a stack called Livecode GameEngine which is my main project right now which is actuly almost done, i will be releasing it as a beta by the end of summer.
Please understand that my goal is to offer advanced tutorials but keeping them simple enough so that even someone who knows nothing about livecode can understand them.

I think that would be great. It could serve as the next step for those who have completed the Create It With LiveCode series.

This is a great project!!!!
The most interesting parts would be:
- the design process and architecture design (model-view-controller, object oriented programming, etc., libraries and widgets in LiveCode 8 ).
Tutorials that start from the basic architectural concepts of the software to get the code, is the right approach for complex projects or to reuse their code so efficiently.
This would make the course very interesting and different from other tutorials.

Hello guys and thank you for your interest.
Unfortunately i can not seem to be able to record video for my tutorials with the current hardware so for now i will be creating text/picture tutorials. I expect to have the website ready within the next week, i will keep you informed, have fun .
