I see that the latest LC versions have replaced text
with icons.
I know that reading isn't taught much in schools these
days but I do think that this is taking things too far.
How many icons can the human brain easily recognize?
Who decides what icon is to represent what function?
Instead of just one click I now find that I have to use
the drop-down menu to do any of the "Group" functions
since those icons seem particularly inappropriate.
What's the last LC version which recognized that one
word is worth a thousand icons?

Re: When a picture isn't worth one Word...
The icons in the main toolbar have options for also displaying text, just like they've always had. The Inspector tabs also have options to use text instead of icons. The icons in the Tools palette have never had labels, but I don't know of a tools palette in any layout software that does, and like most such tools each icon provides a tooltip with a description.
Which icons are you referring to?

Delighted to hear that.
Where is that option?
Perhaps these versions were shipped with
the option set "Off"?

What Richard said. Look in the "View" menu.

I'm entitled to be boggled. First used Rev 2.8 and
have never seen it with the text "Off".
Does this option have some use?
