The last time this sort of thing happened was after I responded to someone here about this very sort of issue. I mentioned that I thought the main reason LC did not sweep the planet was that many programmers, experienced ones most of all, dismissed it as a toy, without really investigating whether its friendly interface and english-like language could be taken seriously. I said this was "a prejudice".

That made Amthony (sic?) Black explode with anger. You were there; he spoke thereafter only in bold capital letters.

Don't be like him, please, even the very, very little bit you were.

Yes, well, 'Amthony' . . .

Obviously 'Amthony' had more things to worry about, such as 'spiling'.

I just felt that 'idiots' was silly, and incorrect.

Personally it seems to me that regarding xTalk languages as "toys' is largely either prejudice or based on not actually taking the time necessary to get under their skin to realise how very useful they are.

The even funnier things are people who regard block-coding things such as SCRATCH as 'real" programming languages, Python as a 'real' programming language, but LC as a toy.

However, ignorance is not idiocy, and narrow-minded dismissal is not idiocy.

And the reason there is not an ongoing tsunami of uptake of Livecode (and other xTalk 'dialects') lies to a very, very large extent in lack of 'push', which results in people being ignorant about LC.

And a website that, to a very large extent has 'sat there' for donkey's ages: undynamic and not very informative.

So it was "idiots" that was the trigger. OK, as a choice of words , that may have been over the top. How about "fools"?

Hmm: I would be wary of using 'Fool', as, historically the fool was a lot more switched on than even the King.
