Hi,

Access comes in 2 versions - a fully enabled version, sporting all features, and the mentioned free downloadable runtime version, meant to only work as, well, a runtime. I quote from "Details" in the above link:
Microsoft wrote:The Access 2007 Runtime is similar to previous runtimes in that all design-related UI is either removed or disabled.
So you can distribute it along with a database-application, it will drive this application, but cannot be used to alter it.

That's what I mean.

The correct version (including if it's a runtime) should be found in the "About" window, somewhere hidden in the menu.

A few hints:
  • A short introduction (187 pages) to Acc2007 is here (.pdf)
  • If you intend to buy a full version, check EBay or Amazon - unopened older versions often come for small money!
  • If you intend to buy a full version, ALWAYS select English as language - this is priceless if you need to google for error messages, functions, hints, tips and tricks etc. With any other language such is very frustrating!
  • If you intend to buy a full version, choose 2002, XP or 2003. They come without these irritating ribbons ...
Have a good time!
