Don't know if this has been sorted, but I've just upgraded to an Intel iMac and had the same problem.
I've sorted it by going to the website
http://www.techsmith.com/download/codecs.asp
and downloading and installing the codec for Intel macs. The mime settings for QuickTime are the default settings.
