Now would I say that if I thought he was only universal in the U.S. with you watching Klaus??
http://popeye.wikia.com/wiki/Popeye wrote:Popeye has a long and rich history spanning nearly a century and is one of the most recognizable and beloved cartoon characters in the world, consistently regarded as one of the best ever created.
I also don't think the U.S.==the world

Really? I don't. :D

Of course I know Popeye, but his cartoons have not been in german television in the last 40 years or so.

Oh, they haven't been on here either, sorry for using an outdated quip. I'll try to come up with more modern routines :P

Not outdated, but a non-universal quip, just avoid american-culture-centric jokes, if you know what I mean. :D

"Wimpy" is hardly known outside of the US of A.

I dunno, I'm still working out whether the earth is flat or not, and now you tell me that Popeye and Wimpy aren't known outside the borders of the country I am in, despite assurances from the tooth fairy and Abraham Van Helsing that they are! (The Easter Bunny was unavailable, but I left a message!) Are you sure that you are not the one operating in a geographical bubble ? (i.e. do I have to figure out German quips?)

Oh no, I've gone cross-eyed Image

Yep, I'm afraid so. To get you started:
Wenn ist das nun Stück gitt und Schlottermeyer? - Ja: Bayer-Hund. Das, oder die Flipper-Wald Gespütt!

LOL. And now it's time for the penguin on top of your television to explode.

Too late, I think my head exploded

The closest I could find was

German Wikipedia quotes it as
Wenn ist das nun Stück gitt (geht) und Schlottermeyer? - Ja: Bayer-Hund. Das, oder die Flipper-Wald Gespütt! (Gespött)“
This is made up to sound like German, but doesn't make any sense. It's obvious the joke had to be modified beyond distinction - Way too dangerous otherwise.
Btw, big Monty Python fan as well. Next week, I'm joining the Ministry of Silly Walks!
