@richmond62: Lines are determined by ending carriage returns (or the current line delimiter.) This is the same in both wrapped and unwrapped fields, and LC retrieves text the same way in both.

What's not solved? The problem turned out to be normal LC behavior which, once understood, rendered the issue solved.
