I gather than the North Americans tend to call
Drop Scones, Flapjacks, just as the English tend to call Drop Scones, Pancakes.

It's a regional thing. Some folks in the southern US say "Flapjacks", in the northern states we say "pancakes" but they're all the same thing.

However, over in Britain "flapjacks" are something else (and very good they are, too).
