Why would you spend a lot of money so that everything looks smaller?
I personally would not especially save money on a good monitor, first of all it's what you stare at many hours a day. I also need a good monitor for video editing and color grading, a 4K monitor helps me to evaluate UHD footage. And a 4K monitor that just runs on Full HD resolution reproduces often a slightly sharper and crisper image, especially for text, than a Full HD equivalent. Your eyes might get a little bit less tired during the day. But that are just personal preferences and needs. I am sure you can code brilliant stuff with a monochrome VGA monitor.

HA, HA: I coded "brilliantly" with a Hollerith card puncher in 1975 . . . but you wouldn't get me back then for all the tea in China.
