So, three work and three don't, so what's the difference? It's all in a name...

I use a naming convention that Livecode clearly doesn't like...

If I change this to...

...then everything works absolutely fine. If I change it back, it's broken again...

I've changed the names and titles of the other 'broken' stacks and they now work fine too. Again, if I change them back, they break.

I'm sure the developers at Livecode will be able to explain this, somehow, but for now, I just need to work out another naming convention.

Many thanks to those who offered their support. Issue resolved!

Amazing.

I am on tenterhooks to find out what is in a name.

And I'd like to know how you figured out the problem was the name. I didn't see anything wrong with the original one.

I created a template with stack scripts, buttons, fields etc.

I then created six different stacks from this template, each slightly different to perform slightly different tasks.

I named each stack according to what it does, basically a three-letter code and a title separated by underscores.

Three worked fine, and three didn't, with very curious results.

I look at what was fundamentally different between the stacks that worked and those that didn't. So, I tried changing the names and it resolved the issue. When I change the names back, the stacks didn't work again.

I've renamed all the stacks with a three-letter code and no underscores. Everything now works great!

I hope you send Panos a sample broken stack, because this is something they would want to fix.

LiveCode_Panos wrote: Tue Apr 20, 2021 4:44 pm Hello Gary,

Could you post here (or upload to dropbox or wetransfer) one or more of the stacks that you cannot open their scripts, so we can have a look?

Kind regards,
Panos

I apologize for not knowing or acknowledging a total stranger!
Although, I do recognize some names from the SuperCard, MetaCard and RunRev days!

LOL.
Gary - I think it's something strange going on with your template.
I created a stack with your same naming convention and all is well.
Is the stack with templates something you can post here?

No worries, Gary. Glad to see you here. We can't expect everyone to know all of the team members, and it's a good habit to ask for credentials whenever anyone asks for proprietary data.
