Oddly enough . . .
My Devawriter Pro

which is a standalone generated from LC 9.6.3 community, works 100% 0n MacOS 14 beta 2.

Re: MacOS Sonoma Beta
I'm "off" in Riga [which is well worth a visit] so have not had the chance to install the third developer beta on my Mac Mini.
Has anyone else?
What gives with LC?

Agreed.richmond62 wrote: ↑Wed Jun 28, 2023 1:03 pm...this is probably a problem between MacOS 14 and WINE, rather than between WINE and LiveCode.

Re: MacOS Sonoma Beta
Presumably (?) if MacOS 14 does NOT get sorted out vis-a-vis both current commercial and erstwhile community versions, it will get sorted out re WINE, so it should be possible to deploy Windows versions of LC versions on MacOS 14 even if not Mac native versions.

A friend of mine has just reported that LC commercial 9.6.9 also crashes.

WINE attempting to install LC 9.6.3 Community, Windows 32-bit.
BUT, seems a bit stack at this stage.

WINE attempting to install LC 9.6.3 Community, Windows 64-bit . . .
This is, of course, not a very satisfactory way of going about things, but certainly better than nothing.
Obviously, even if nothing else, WINE, between MacOS 14 beta 2 and beta 3 got sorted out.

Mind you "Removing installed files" looks ODD.

Having tried the 'You Only' option [my normal method with Linux], I am having a go
with the 'All Users' option . . .

RIGHT . . .

Desktop alias is rubbish: to start the thing you have to drill down through the 'invisible' .wine folder in your HOME directory and open the LiveCode Community.exe with WINE.
Probably preferable to bang one's head on the wall.

Oh, AND, quitting the thing is a pain, one has to do a Force Quit:

Re: MacOS Sonoma Beta
LC 9.6.3 does NOT run on MacOS 14 beta 4
At least (small comfort) one can quit LC 9.6.3 running via WINE on MacOS 14 beta in the 'normal' way rather than having to perform a force quit.

Re: MacOS Sonoma Beta
Well, 'futter me', if the 'beta 4 update' will not install on my 2018 INTEL Mac Mini [I am not unique in that respect: loads of problems being reported]: so, it comes down to this for me:
1. Carry on developing Devawriter Pro on Xubuntu and/or Debian with 9.6.3 'open sauce'.
or
2. As above with WINE on MacOS 14 [and there's a big load of rubbish].
or
3. Cross my fingers, toes, legs, and other bits of my anatomy that further recensions of MacOS 14 will allow 9.6.3 to run.
or
4. Revert to MacOS 13 [knowing that MacOS 14 WILL run 9.6.3 standalones.
or
5. 'Rob the bank' to fork out for LC 'latest and greatest', which as my friend Brahmanathswami has moved on to the Vaikuntha Lokas is near impossible as any revenue from DWP has dried up.
‐------
Any one else in a similar bind?
100% disjaskit.
