Indeed: as the OP is complaining about the Windows colour picker I am not sure how helpful
that comment is.

No worries, I find most comments in this thread helpful or interesting in some way (or at least funny, like those expressing a need to pre-announce a post-supper reply ). And my own comments did extend the scope of the thread to colour management in general, including Apple's colour picker, which Stam gave me very useful info about.
