Unless 5.5 show up in you account as a version you can download, I think you're out another $99.

I was under the impression that a 5.0.2 + Xcode 4.2 would produce an App which would also work on a iOS 5.1 device.
I think that only the specific functions you would need for 5.1 would be absent.
I hope I am right...

Makes sense to me. You'll just have to test on real hardware for 5.1 compatibility.

I am using LC 5.02 and Xcode 4.2. I have an app in ad hoc testing within my user agency and went to roll out an upgrade a couple days ago. This involves connecting each iPad to my lap top and dragging the new app into the Xcode organizer and uploading t to each iPad devise. The update went fine on two of the iPads that were IOS 5.02 but the one iPad that had been upgraded to 5.1 would not accept the app. The message was that I didn't have a version of x code to upload to IOS 5.1

So does that mean my 2 apps in the iStore won't run on 5.1 ? I will update my iPhone to 5.1 and download 1 and give it a try and report back.

Just because I can't test on 5.1 doesn't necessarily mean I can't run on 5.1 ?

I am stoked with my system as is and am frankly worried about what kind of nightmare I might be getting into by upgrading regarding profiles and certificates.

Yes, your App compiled with LC 5.0.2 work fine on iOS 5.1 (... probably NOT on the New iPad with retina resolution) but for sure YES on other devices (... i normally do that on my running iOS 5.1).

To upload the App on your devices I can sugget the AirLaunch plugin (http://www.hyperactivesw.com/airlaunch/index.html) so you can bypass XCode Organizer ;)

Dave,

My iPad app runs fine on the new iPad (and looks great) even though it was built with LC 5.0.2. No problems downloading it from the app store.

I think Guglielmo's suggestion to use Jacque's plugin should save you lots of time and effort regardless of iOS/Xcode version, but if you prefer to do it manually you'll need Xcode 4.3.x to install you app on devices running 5.1. If Xcode 4.3 offers to remove Xcode 4.2, DON'T LET IT.

LiveCode 5.5 means I have to buy a new iPhone, new Mac OSX, and new Adobe products. Can't just now. Will this work? In the slow lane, I have an iPhone 3G, running maximum IOS 4.2.1, with a no contract STRAIGHTTALK unlimited everything $45/mo plan; Mac OS 10.6.8, and XCODE 4.02. I have not upgraded my MacOS because I lose Adobe products. I have LiveCode 4.X, whatever was before 5.5, I bought last year.
LiveCode 5.5 requires IOS 5.1. I can't run that on my iPhone. The good news is that XCODE does recognize eventually the jail broken IOS, and has given me new provisioning. So what I need to do is uninstall LiveCode 5.5 and install LiveCode 4.X and I am good to continue the Business Academy?

Which Adobe products?

Adobe's stuff is what led me to appreciate FOSS wares. ;)

Took some effort to make the transition, but never looked back.

Elements and a really old Acrobat. I'll check out FOSS. Have to say that OpenOffice has been as good as MS Office, and without the backdoors into my Mac.

Mobgui trail, just downloaded, does not work with LiveCode 4.6.1. I've asked them last night for an old version of MobGui that will, have not heard from them yet.
