Livecode 10 Chart Problems

I am still having problems with the chart control in Livecode 10 and iOS.

When I deploy or test an app either on a device or simulator the chart fails to refresh when I set the csvdata property of it to a new value.

If I navigate away from the card and then back to it, the chart then refreshes correctly.

Is there a way or command to force the chart widget to update its contents?

Thanks

Andy

Hi Andy,

did you try the "usual supects" like:
lock/unlock screen
set the csvdata to EMPTY first and then to new data
set the backcolor of this stack to the backcolor of this stack
?

Best

Klaus

Yes, I tried those, send send update to me in 1 to try to get it out of the stack.

Ive created a small test file to demonstrate the issue and submitted it to Livecode as a bug. It works fine in the IDE but does nothing when compiled to an actual app for iOS.

I can't seem to get this tooltip (which I see by right-clicking) in the attached graph image to click on it and insert a script. Does anyone know how to help me?

I don't think a tooltip can have a script. A tooltip is simply a string attached to an object.

AND a tooltip generally becomes visible when one performs a mouseEnter . . .

I have certainly never heard of a tooltip becoming visible with a right button click.

If a right-click sets the visible of an image or textField that is something else (which could contain a script: as it would be a separate object), but not a tooltip.

Yet, if you use the chart widget and enter values to obtain a chart like mine, and then right-click on the chart, that tooltip appears, which is not configurable in the chart widget object properties. It's as if there were a Recalculate/Update Chart function; in fact, the symbol is the same, but I can't control it. It appears and is clickable, but it doesn't do anything.

Ah: I did not understand you were referring to a widget.

Widgets do not always conform to standards we expect of LiveCode-native controls.

If you have a look here:

https://docs.livecode.com/docs/LiveCode ... ets/Chart/

you will see all the properties of that widget.

I find the chart Widget to draw lovely charts but it does have some odd edges. The fact that it has a property exposed in the inspector palette called "Enable tooltip" (which will show a tooltip of the data label the cursor is over) and also a field in which to enter "tooltip" text (not controlled by the "Enable tooltip" checkbox :D ) and which can show as a second different tooltip simultaneously, is a bit odd but perhaps potentially useful if you want a general tooltip but not a data label. The right-click popup menu to "Reload" doesn't seem to be a menu that LiveCode exposes as editable. (Perhaps it was not editable as built into the underlying Chart.js library that the widget is a wrapper for.) I don't find that "Reload" actually does anything on desktop (for me, just clicking the widget causes it to update) but perhaps it is functional when running in a web version of LiveCode. Web isn't a platform that I have tested it on.
