Multilanguaje applications
Something comes to my mind evaluating LiveCode....
How can I add multilanguaje capabilities to a LiveCode application?
I mean, there are some option to read and change texts automatically from .po files for example? Or this needs to do it manually?

Re: Multilanguaje applications
Hi,
I think
one file ".txt" for the labels of controls
one file ".txt" or ".rtf" for each text of each fld
one file ".txt" or ".rtf" for each text of dialog
etc...
and you import the data from these files at preopenstack with the default langage
And the same for langage change
best

But I need manually to reading for this text file, searching for the "declaration" of the control, and changing the text, true? There aren't a prebuilt option to do this automacally.
Is possible to develop this behaviour, and in some way, all controls inherit from it to "learn" to load his text in the languje defined?
Sorry for not know how to explain me better in english

Hi glpunzi...
You could use custom properties... keep the different language texts in custom properties of the fields and buttons.. the texts of the fields could be kept in custom properties and the names of the buttons kept in custom properties... when you choose which 'tongue' you want to show the appropriate custom property can be called to display the text in a field or in the name of a button...
A little stack is attached to give you an idea of what I mean...
be well,
Dixie

Re: Multilanguaje applications
NativeSoft used to have a product specifically for this, called NativeSpeak - which would handle both translations and the associated geometry challenges. I believe he has split off the geometry part into a separate product, but I don't know what his intentions are with the translations part. You can always contact them to find out more.
