Re: Free Trial Question
I guess I'm at a little bit of a loss. LC seems to be all about mobile and I get a free trial and yet I need to ask for a trial for mobile, too? I'm definitely confused.
And, on another subject, does this server seem really, really slow? Posting takes 15 seconds or more.

Re: Code reuse, object orientation
Right on all counts. Learning any new programming language is probably easier if you're not carrying a lot of baggage from other environments. There's less to unlearn. But then the background gained from other environments is invaluable in getting a foothold in the new one. You just can't win. :D W...

Re: Code reuse, object orientation
well, this one (DOT syntax) has been discussed often in the past and the majority of the LC useres did NOT want it! 8) Interesting that it has even been discussed. I wouldn't necessarily have guessed it. If many users are non-programmers picking up iOS programming because the language is very Engli...

Re: Code reuse, object orientation
Good information from all the responders. Thank you. I do like what I'm seeing, so far. There are good alternatives, but LiveCode seems to be in the top tier, from what I know at present. I must confess to not being all that enthralled with the syntax direction they have chosen. I come from Visual F...

Code reuse, object orientation
Am I correct in thinking that there's really no object orientation in LiveCode? It's more like Visual Basic was prior to dot NOT - it looks like you're dealing with objects, but there's no inheritance, polymorphism, or encapsulation. So, for a simple example, if you have a bunch of buttons strewn ac...

Thoughts on the docs?
What are your opinions on the state of the documentation? So far it seems kind of outdated. Like they are concentrating on new features, but not keeping up with the changes in the docs (not necessarily an unusual thing for small companies). For instance, I was looking at the docs on the Standalone A...

Free Trial Question
Is the free trial a type of crippleware? It seems there are features that are not enabled, such as settings on the General tab on the Standalone Applications Settings dialog. And when I go to the iOS tab on the same dialog, there's a green stripe at the lower left that says "This is a trial. Buy Dep...
