Is the free trial a type of crippleware? It seems there are features that are not enabled, such as settings on the General tab on the Standalone Applications Settings dialog. And when I go to the iOS tab on the same dialog, there's a green stripe at the lower left that says "This is a trial. Buy Deployment Addon."

Yes, mobile support is a speparate feature that you need to buy and unlock separately, and obivously you need to ask for a TRIAL for mobile, too.

In any way, please try Livcode, you will love it, once you get the "grips"

I guess I'm at a little bit of a loss. LC seems to be all about mobile and I get a free trial and yet I need to ask for a trial for mobile, too? I'm definitely confused.

And, on another subject, does this server seem really, really slow? Posting takes 15 seconds or more.

Yes, definitively!
No idea why it is so, but this seems to depend on the servers "state on the day"

You can trial building for mobile platforms as well as desktop platforms in the free trial. In order to do so you must first set up LiveCode with the appropriate SDK for your mobile platform - see these lessons:

Note that any trial standalone you build will time out after a few minutes.
