Beta Testers Wanted

Post by Johdu » Fri Nov 21, 2008 5:21 pm

Hi,

I have been trying to get a standalone application Beta tested. I circulated the software to the group of people who would be using it, but have received inconclusive reports. Is anyone here interested in Beta testing?

The program is a "day-date calculator" for a specific audience, I doubt that anyone here would actually have a need for the program. However, I could certainly do with a few more people looking at it before I unleash it on the world.

This is my second program - the first was Beta tested and has been selling quite well. Yes, honestly!

I'm looking for anyone who can Beta test on Windows Vista (home and/or business). The program is stable and has not caused any computer problems. The issues seem to be around the use of the speech system. It works 100% on Window XP... but only 90% on Vista.

Any volunteers to test it? You can keep a copy of the final program in return - should you want it.... alternatively, I would be happy to Beta test a program in return.

John
ps. Alternatively - is there a "Beta tester's group" I could join... or start up?

Hi, I would have been glad to do some beta testing for you but I use a Mac.
the first was Beta tested and has been selling quite well.
Excellent! Pleased for you; it's nice to know that shareware stuff has some form of success! For interest, do you use any company/PAD software robot to automatically post your software listings on the listings websites? And do you use someone like Kagi to help sort the financial end of things, if you don't mind my asking?

:)

AndyP - Many thanks for your speedy reply to my post. I will send you a PM with further details. Cheers.

gyroscope - I have a Mac version of the software, but the target audience for my 'software' is quite small so I have never offered it. However, I will PM you with a link.

I tend to produce short 'one trick pony' types of programs... offering a straightforward solution to a problem. The intended audience is quite specialised and fairly small in number, so I only list the software in one place (a specialised eBook site - even though the programs are *not* eBook related!). I also have demo versions (with restricted usage) on my own website and these garner quite a lot of interest. I calculate that more than 80% of the people who download a demo buy the full program within a few days. The final thing I do is to price the full versions quite low: $10 with guaranteed free access to any future versions I produce.

Thanks for your interest and offers of help. As you can see from my 'registered date', I have been here for over two years (a silent - but very grateful - lurker).

Hi Johndu
I will PM you with a link.
Thanks, I look forward to that.

I'm guessing that you have a shopping cart on your website for the full programs?

Whoops! OK, welcome to your second posted thread!

Hi John,

If you still need volunteers to beta test your program, I have some spare time.

I have Windows Vista, Windows XP, and Mac OSX systems I can test with.

Ed
