Web Plugin - When?

Post by AndyP » Thu Nov 20, 2008 6:46 pm

Does anyone know when we are likely to see the web plugin go live as outlined here may 2008?
http://runrev.com/newsletter/may/issue4 ... etter1.php

I'm primarily a web (PHP/Mysql) developer so I'm very keen on getting my hands on the plugin... Am I exited ... Oh yes, one development tool to for 3 platforms and the web .. oh yea...let it roll.

Hmm got a bit carried away there, any news? :?:

Same here -- I could use this now -- it's been six months since the announcement.

Last I heard, they were making steady progress but it takes time to get it working for all browsers on all platforms. There's also a number of differences between an in-browser and a desktop application experience to consider and get 'just right' - and however much excited I am like you guys, I'm willing to wait until it is 'just right' and then I'll gloat :-)

I'm with Jan on this one.. rather wait for them to get it working solid.. If not, they'll end up with someone like me who will complain of bugs and such.. Wait, not someone like me, that *is* me! I will be the one who complains. :p

Good to see the interest in the web plugin and I agree it needs to right before being made available.

Is it possible for someone from Runtime Revolution to give us some indication on the expected release date for the plugin?

My experience in Software is to always announce fancy features that you're sure you'll add to your product. However, never, ever (ever) announce any date, unless it lies in the past. Runrev has been burned on a stake a few times due to announcing dates but not being able to fulfill them, and I'm sure they've learned from the experience.

Said that, the forum is not the place to ask stuff from RunRev anyway. So why don't you send a mail to support if you want to ask this question from them?

Can anyone answer, Without asking for non-disclosure info, I just want to know if

the plug-in is designed for apps displayed in browser windows, the use of external rev windows called from the browser, or both.

Thank you

Dear Maxs,

From the link to the newsletter (see the beginning of this thread) I understand that the plugin allows for running stacks inside the browser window.

Kind regards,

Mark
