How to open *.livecode
I have Livecode 7.0 (c:\Program Files (x86)\RunRev\LiveCode Community 7.0\).
I click "open with" but I cannot find the right 'openline'.
If I use "c:\Program Files (x86)\RunRev\LiveCode Community 7.0\LiveCode Community.exe" to open the livecode files, they open with the browser.
What to do ?

Hi Rob,
although not sure if this is a Windows or Livecode problem, I gave up on this some time ago
and will now open ANY LC file ONLY via the OPEN dialog in LC!
Best

Re: How to open *.livecode
I don't understand what I read: what does it mean "OPEN dialog in LC".and will now open ANY LC file ONLY via the OPEN dialog in LC!
Please give me an example.
I downloaded LC 7.0 (c:\Program Files (x86)\RunRev\LiveCode Community 7.0\)
Thanks Rob

Hi.
Klaus means one of the two "Open..." menuItems in the "File" menu, or perhaps the "open" (or "go") command in LC itself.

Re: How to open *.livecode
Of course I mean the "Open Stack..." menuitem in the "FILE" Menu in Livecode,
there aren't any other "Open" dialogs in Livecode.

Re: How to open *.livecode
Yes, that way openig a *. livecode or a *.rev, is wel known.Of course I mean the "Open Stack..." menuitem in the "FILE" Menu in Livecode,
there aren't any other "Open" dialogs in Livecode.
Before the crash of my computer, yesterday, all these files could be opened, in Windows,
with one line from the opendialogbox.
What line: I cannot remember.
No one of you perhaps?

Re: How to open *.livecode
Do you mean open recent file from the File menu? You'd be able to click one of the LC files listed. After using e.g. ccleaner after a crash/clean up - you may have lost that list.
Re: How to open *.livecode
No, that's not what I mean. I want to olpen LC from the windows opendialogbox.Do you mean open recent file from the File menu?

Re: How to open *.livecode
Could this have to do with the file association feature in Windows? I mean, when it sees an .xls it knows it's an Excel file etc. and it will open the correct executable for it with the file loaded. I seem to remember you can define those file associations somewhere.

Re: How to open *.livecode
Hi robm80,
Are you saying that even if you use "bladeren" (browse I'm guessing) you cannot select "c:\Program Files (x86)\RunRev\LiveCode Community 7.0\LiveCode Community.exe"?
Or that when you do it opens with the "browser" (you have to specify Windows explorer or a browser like IE).

I agree and in the past I did it, but where????I seem to remember you can define those file associations somewhere.
Re: How to open *.livecode
Yes of course I can select it, but the result is zero. Are you saying that even if you use "bladeren" (browse I'm guessing) you cannot select "c:\Program Files (x86)\RunRev\LiveCode Community 7.0\LiveCode Community.exe"?

Yes, exactly my experience, that was the time I gave uprobm80 wrote:Yes of course I can select it, but the result is zero.

Interesting, it works here.robm80 wrote:Yes of course I can select it, but the result is zero. Are you saying that even if you use "bladeren" (browse I'm guessing) you cannot select "c:\Program Files (x86)\RunRev\LiveCode Community 7.0\LiveCode Community.exe"?
I actually have .rev automatically open in LC 4.6 and .livecode opening in 6.6.2.
Maybe try removing the space in the .exe name? (none of mine have a space).
Oh and one of the problems I had setting up the above two was that Windows didn't know what to do when it saw multiple .exe of the same name (regardless of location). I renamed all the versions I had to include their version numbers.

Re: How to open *.livecode
File extension .rev is also used by WinRaR as the WinRAR Recovery Volume file extension. If WinRaR is installed it takes over the .rev. from Livecode.
Some other applications also use .rev.
If necessary I edit the registry to fix it.
