Yosemite...well, that was a mistake

Post by rumplestiltskin » Tue Nov 18, 2014 3:37 am

Glad I did this on an external HD. Installed Yosemite, updated to 10.10.1. Installed LC 7.01 (RC2). Downloaded and installed Java 8. Downloaded the Android SDK. Tried to run the android sdk app in the tools folder in order to get the proper updates. The Terminal complains about how Java isn't installed. Figured it might be a problem with Java 8 so downloaded Java 7. Won't install as "Java 8 is already installed". I'm done with Yosemite for a long while.

As far as other apps (that run) are concerned, Yosemite is a real dog; unbelievably slow unless running it on an SSD. Glad I left my internal drive running Mavericks. I'm restarting into an OS that works as soon as I finish posting this.

Hi Barry,
I am new to mac (only 2 days ) and I have a Mac Mini with Yosemite 10.10.1. I had the same error (about Java) when
try to install Android Studio. I momentary solve doing this in command prompt:
launchctl setenv STUDIO_JDK/library/Java/JavaVirtualMachines/jdk1.8.0_25.jdk
My problem is how to tell LiveCode in the Preferences/mobile/ because when I have to select
the directory where Android library is, it is invisible so I can't select!!!
Ohh Mac!!! Where is my Windows XP!!
Pls help. Tks

I downloaded the jdk from apple's site (1.6) and that seemed to work.
I was also having trouble getting livecode preferences to like the SDK in my library folder. You can change the view preferences in the finder to make your library visible: http://osxdaily.com/2014/12/16/show-use ... -yosemite/

I had some problem with Livecode "losing" that path on restarts, though. I ended up installing the SDK independently of studio.
