LC 7RC3 & Genymotion

Post by Youks »

Hi All,

I'm starting to code now on Android and I've followed all the threads regarding the issues encountered lately with the Android SDK. I've followed Neil's instruction to avoid any tool SDK above v20.
The issue I'm having is that any stack compiled to be tested on Genymotion ends up hanging on the simulator at the "Installing APK" message in the emulator.

Any thoughts or workaround ??

Regards.

PS:My commercial license expired so working with the last available community edition.

Hi Youks,

Please install all of the the latest Android packages as LiveCode should now support these. I am able to confirm this on my Mac as I have SDK tools 23.0.5 & build tools 21.1.1 (7.0.1rc3, 6.7.1 rc3)

I also had to install Geny Motion 2.3.1, as my previous version (2.3.0) was crashing LiveCode on "installing app on target device".

It is worth noting that Genymotion is not one of LiveCodes officially supported emulators so there could be situation where this happens in the future. I would also recommend setting up a simple Android SDK based emulator as this will allow you to troubleshoot issues like this in the future.

Kind Regards,

Neil Roger

Hi Neil,

Thank you for your answer, initially all the new SDK's were installed with the new version on Genymotion but i faced that issue. I will re-install all the program and use the normal procedure even though it is more convenient and faster to use Genymotion.

Hi Neil,

I followed your advice and i am still having the "Unable to create manifest" issue on the created AVD (normal emulator) or when using Genymotion the wheel blocked into installing the apk in the emulator.
All this in the LC Community Edition 7.0.1 RC3.

Hi Youks,

What OS are you developing on and I will create a short setup video showing each step in my Android setup process.

Hi Youks,

I've not had a chance to record the video yet. When I get a chance I will be setting up a fresh Yosemite VM and setting up Android from scratch. As soon as I've done this, I will post a link to the video.

Kind Regards,

Neil Roger

Hi Youks,

Its great to hear that you got development up and running with 6.7.1. This could indicate a bug with 7.0.1 and Yosemite. Could you please file a report with our Quality Control Team as they will be able to investigate further-
